The current skin care favourites #2

Hello! Long time, no see. I can't even recall the last time that I wrote up a proper blog post. I've had my A-level exams, so unfortunately had no time to blog :( Now I'm back it's time to save my skin. My skin has been awful lately, mostly due to lack of sleep, eating rubbish and being a stress head. The exam period has left my skin a bit of a mess. These are my skincare saviours currently...

To start off my cleansing routine I begin with using Emma Hardie Amazing Face Natural Lift and Sculpt Moringa Cleansing Balm to remove all of my make-up. I originally thought I wouldn't get along with this as my skin is quite oily at the best of times but I feel as if this balances out my skin perfectly. I use a tiny amount massaged into dry skin and remove with a warm flannel. What I love the most about this is that it doens't leave a film on my skin. Every other cleansing balm that I have tried has left me with a film of oily residue, which is almost impossible to remove. Although I believe the other cleansing balms had mineral oil in them, whilst this does not, which is probably why it leaves my skin feeling squeaky clean. After using this my skin doesn't feel over loaded with moisture which I originally thought. My skin is left feeling really soft and clean, whilst it is a tad over priced, I think that until I find a decent cleansing balm for cheaper I will continue to repurchase this.

REN Clear Calm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser is my favourite pick of the bunch. Previously to buying this, I had never tried any REN skincare at all. But after reading Caroline Hirons' blog here, and reading that she likes it, I had to try it! After using this twice I saw a difference in my skin. My skin was balanced out, the oilyness had reduced and my spots had calmed down quickly. As French clay is one of the ingredients, along with Zinc Gluconate, Salicilin, Mayblossom and Manuka Extract, this has worked wonders for my skin. According to the REN skincare website... the French clay absorbs excess oils and purifies the skin, Zinc Gluconate reduces production of sebum, Salicilin gives mild exfoliation and antibacterical properties, Mayblossom tones enlarged pores and Manuka Extract soothes and nourishes. With this ingredient list in combination with their no nasties policy i.e no mineral oil etc, it's safe to say my skin loves this.
The consistency feels like a runny clay face mask and immediatly feels calming on the skin as it's quite cool. I love using this after I've removed all of my make-up every evening and if my skin is feeling particularly oily/spotty I will use it in the mornings also. I apply this to dry skin and remove with a warm flannel.

Since watching and resisting to take notes on Pixiwoo's video with skincare expert, Caroline Hirons, I decided to make manual exfoliaters a thing of the past. Previously, I was using a face scrub every few days, completely obvlious to the face that it wasn't doing anything for my skin. I decided after many of the reccomendations on Caroline's blog to try a exfoliating toner. REN Clarifying Toning Lotion was my first choice as I'd heard so much about REN as a brand and I love it. The texture of my skin has improved drastically since using this religiously. I apply a tiny amount on a cotton pad and sweep in over my skin after cleansing and it leaves my skin feeling so fresh but also smooth and radiant looking. Now I've finally taken the plunge and tried an exfoliating toner, I really want to try Pixi Glow Tonic.

Superfacialist by Una Brenan is an amazing skincare range that I believe is exclusive to Boots and her website. The range is reasonably priced and amazing quality. My daily moisturiser has been the Mattifying Moisturiser from the Tea Flower range which is aimed at breakout prone skin as it contains salicylic acid. Every moisturiser I've tried that is aimed at oily breakout prone skin has been so thin, runny and quite frankly useless for underneath make-up. The consitency of this is perfect, it's not at all runny yet not too rich for oily skin- the perfect base for make-up. Another product by the Una Brenan range that I've been loving is the Calming Creamy Cleanser from the Rose range which is aimed at skin that needs a boost of hydration. My skin hasn't been able to make up its mind recently. One minute its oily and spotty, the next it's dry and irritated. When my skin is feeling dry and a bit sore or just lacking hydration this cleanser does the trick. It has a rose scent to it which makes it lovely to use before bedtime. When my skin is being oily, this is a bit too heavy for it though, so I like using this once a week to balance my skin out.

If you read my review here, you would know that I'm quite obsessed with Nuxe Reve De Miel lip balm. I adore using this before bed as my lips feel nourished and smooth in the morning. I think I might be a bit addicted to this. The tiniest amount goes a long way so although it's a pricey lipbalm, it's definitely worth it to me.

I've really been into skincare at the moment so I'd love to know what you have been loving. What's your skincare favourites at the moment?
